A Lewisville man has gone viral after sharing his nightmare experience at the Texas branch of sports bar Shakertins – The Colony.
In the clip, which he began filming while he was still at the bar, TikToker Kenyon (@kiisedbyken) declared: “Never in my life have I been to a place with worse service than this place.”
“Now, first of all, when we first got here, the waiter was coming out of the bathroom with another man,” he said. The waiter then proceeded to tell Kenyon, who was there with his boyfriend, that he actually can’t serve them. He added that they’d need to go to the bar to order because he already has “too much going on” with other customers.
Kenyon then panned the camera across the practically deserted bar. “Now, mind you, these are the people that are here,” he said. “It’s probably three or four people, right?”
@kiisedbyken How is it you’re unable to show me on my receipt where you voided me for the food you say the cook didn’t have? Then I couldn’t get a to go drink because they said they didn’t have lids ??????

Things got worse
When he eventually got his drinks, Kenyon says he received “the flattest Sprites I’ve seen in my life.” And when it came to the food, things just got worse. The TikToker said he asked for a chicken sandwich for his boyfriend. However, as he panned the camera to his food, it was clear that there was no chicken sandwich there.
“Where do we see a chicken sandwich?” he asked, exasperated. “They still charge me for the chicken sandwich anyway and tell me that it’s going to come off my card tomorrow. ” However, Kenyon notes that the receipt, which he also showed to the camera, includes no mention of a voided transaction.
“They didn’t give me the flatbread that I asked for,” he added. “I assumed that he [the waiter] just felt like I wanted to continue paying for the food and not take the food. So I spent $50 on two drinks that were $10 and a nacho. And they have not given me a voided receipt.”
He then left the bar. “I’m not finna sit up in here and argue with this man because, at the end of the day, I just will never come back,” he concluded. “This was the most horrible experience. Then, apparently, he [the waiter] done told them that I’m doing a TikTok. Everybody’s sitting at the bar watching me. What the [expletive] are y’all watching me for? This is just a mess.”
The video has amassed 191,100 views.
Kenyon didn’t immediately respond to The Mary Sue’s request for comment via TikTok comment.
What did commenters think?
On the whole, commenters weren’t surprised. One wrote, “Shakertins is not somewhere you go to eat lmao.”
“I think most Shakertins are bad,” a second added.”The one in Arlington is awful.”
“How does that place stay in business?” a third asked. “I never see anyone there ever.”
A fourth warned, “They will call the cops they called on my son so many times lol.”
While a fifth concurred, “YES, they are terrible. I went with my brothers once, we sat at the bar. Literally was barely anyone in the restaurant and everyone who was there was also sitting at the bar! The bartender acted like we weren’t there !! Didn’t speak to us at all.”
Similarly, a sixth opined, “Shakertins is literally one of the worst places I have ever been since moving from NOLA to Dallas. I don’t know how they are still in business.”
Shakertins responds
In an Instagram direct message to the Mary Sue, Shakertins gave their own perspective. According to them, they were short-staffed the night of Kenyon’s visit. This meant that the barback reportedly had to step in as the bartender for a few hours until they could get another bartender.
“It was within that window of time that the guest was with us for food and drink service,” the spokesperson said. “The Barback was untrained on how to service tables properly and that is 100% my fault. It just so happened on that day at that time. This all went down the way that it did.”
As for why the employee was coming out of the bathroom with another man, Shakertins claims that the staff member revealed how a guest wanted to show them that the hand towel machine was not working.
“So when they exited the bathroom, it looked a little suspicious, but he was doing his job,” they continued. “The bartender should have given the guest service at the table, but because he was untrained on table service, he requested that they order from the bar so that he could focus on the guest at the bar where he is comfortable.”
Additionally, the spokesperson said Kenyon was sitting at a table “obscured by some of the walls” in the bar, which reportedly made them hard to see from the bar.
“Regardless, our team should be able to service guests at the bar as well as tables, so that’s no excuse, but I understand my team member’s thinking,” they continued. “That doesn’t mean it was right and the guest should always get great service, whether seated at the bar or at a table and not have to order from the bar. I understand the guest’s frustration.”
What about the receipt?
The spokesperson addressed the issue of the receipt, stating that the staff member had given Kenyon a receipt that didn’t have the deductions yet, as they were printing the right receipt that they hadn’t given to him.
“The items were voided and he was not charged. The correct charges were adjusted and on the second receipt,” they said. “By the time he had that receipt printed and was prepared to bring it to the table, the guest had already walked out and finished his video review.”
He continued that “while I understand both sides of the story, I will always side with the guest if they did not have a great experience with us.”
Is Shakertins racist?
The spokesperson chose to address the comments in Kenyon’s video, which accused the restaurant of being racist.
“What [Kenyon] failed to mention was that the employee in question was black as well,” they said. “So race had nothing to do with it, but people assumed that the staff was white. In fact, he was black.”
They concluded that Kenyon should’ve had a better experience and invited him to visit again so they could “personally oversee their experience if they wanted to give us another chance so they could see what we are capable of.”
