How is George Halas not NFL’s greatest game changer?

When you think of those people that had a significant impact on the NFL, it’s hard not to mention George Halas.

Impossible, even, considering that without Halas the NFL wouldn’t exist.

Halas, the founder of the Chicago Bears and co-founder of the NFL, was ranked the NFL’s fifth-greatest game changer, which makes you wonder how there could possibly be four others ranked higher than the man that was instrumental in the founding of the league.

Here’s what Brett Musburger and Fran Tarkenton had to say about the man they called Papa Bear:

“Without George Halas, there is no National Football League,” Fran Tarkenton said in the video above. “He is one-of-a-kind.”

NFL Network ranked 49ers coach Bill Walsh (No. 4), Raiders owner/GM Al Davis (No. 3), former NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle (No. 2) and executive/coach Paul Brown (No. 1) ahead of Halas.

It’s almost laughable to think that there are four people ranked ahead of Halas. No disrespect to these great game-changers, but none of them had the impact that Halas has had on the NFL. Not even close.
