How innocent fall while playing uncovered little girl's extremely rare brain tumour

A doting mum has revealed how a simple fall led to her daughter being diagnosed with an extremely rare brain tumour.

Little Ebony Newman, aged two, was playing in her grandparents' house when she tumbled off a chair in the lounge onto the carpet.

Despite the fall being innocuous, the toddler was unresponsive for around 25 minutes.

She was rushed to Mackay Base Hospital in Queensland, Australia for an MRI scan, reports 9 news.

Once there, doctors detected a slight mark on Ebony's brain and told her parents that it was likely just a calcium deposit.

But mum Maree was left devastated when she received a phone call from the hospital.

"You’re just lost for words. Especially when she was showing no symptoms. It’s just been an absolute emotional roller-coaster ride.”

Doctors decided she would need surgery to reduce the size of the growth.

Speaking on her Facebook page, the Maree told of the shocking series of events.

She said: "Most Craniopharyngioma's are diagnosed around age five once significant visual loss occurs or huge hormonal issues like stunted growth.

"We were very blessed Ebony had an innocent fall off a couch which knocked her unconscious.

"As a precaution doctors did a CT Scan to check for any bleeding after the fall.

"She was fine from the fall with no injuries but results showed a spot on her brain which needed more investigation, a week later her first MRI diagnosed the Tumour.

"An MRI showed the tumour had increased in size up to 50%.

"The ophthalmologist review showed significant visual loss in her left eye.

"The oncologist, neurosurgeon and ophthalmologist recommended surgery to decrease the size of the tumour - a removal is not possible due to the location."

Brave Ebony underwent surgery but was soon hit by another setback.
