How iconic Merseyside pub could look after huge refurb

A well-known Merseyside pub is set to undergo a HUGE refurbishment that will 'completely transform' the venue.

Plans submitted to Sefton Council would see The Hightown Hotel undergo 'internal and external alterations including a full external re-decoration, additional car parking, modified walkways, new external seating areas, and a new smoking shelter'

According to owners Star Pubs and Taverns, the venue will be completely transformed into a 'fantastic, stylish village pub' that still maintains 'traditional roots'.

It goes on to list the many new additions to the pub, including a new coffee station, a fully-refurbished bar lounge, a freestanding fire-pit in the centre of the dining room, and an upgraded beer garden.

According to Hightown Parish Council's website, the pub 'may be closed for several months to enable the works'

Star Pubs and Taverns said: "The transformational works to The Hightown Hotel will attract the affluent residents, as well as putting it on the map as a destination pub for visitors, walkers and cyclists looking for an easy escape from city life.

"The complete refurbishment will transform The Hightown into a stylish, traditional pub, where customers can enjoy a great selection of drinks, as well as a delicious local food offering, coffees and afternoon teas."

The proposals will be decided upon by Sefton Council's planning committee in due course.

It is understood that Star Pubs are currently seeking a new permanent landlord for The Hightown.
