'How I want to remember you' - Leeds United owner pays heartfelt tribute to legend Norman Hunter

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has paid tribute to club legend Norman Hunter.

The 76-year-old had been in hospital fighting coronavirus but lost his life early this morning.

The club this morning released a statement that read : “He leaves a huge hole in the Leeds United family, his legacy will never be forgotten and our thoughts are with Norman’s family and friends at this very difficult time."

'Bites yer Legs' Hunter made 726 appearances during his time at Elland Road and won eight trophies for the club.

And, in wake of his passing, Radrizzani has promised to work to instil 'Norman Hunter values' into the club the defender loved.

"It was a real honour to spend time with you at our centennial celebration," he wrote in a tribute to Hunter.

"I will bring with me forever your good memories and especially one sentence that you said: 'I knew that the first tackle would be a free bonus from the referee, so I could go tough and show how the game would be to the opponent'

"This is how I want to remember you, fighting for our colours," he continued.

"I will work hard to have this culture in our club. Fighter on the pitch and gentlemen outside."
