How Hearts fans want team to look next season should Elliott Frear join and Aaron Hickey depart

Hearts fans have set out the team they want Robbie Neilson to go with as he plots his assault on the Scottish Championship.

We at Edinburgh Live have been asking supporters to name their ideal starting XI and formation should Elliott Frear join and Aaron Hickey depart the club.

Frear has reportedly been offered a short term deal at Hearts while Hickey looks set to sign for either Champions League finalists Bayern Munich or Serie A side Bologna.

Aside from that, there have been plenty of other transfer ins and outs at Tynecastle which mean the 2020/21 Hearts starting line up is likely to look quite different to the one which was relegated upon the premature end to the 2019/20 season.

Uche Ikpeazu, Sean Clare and Conor Washington have all departed while Christophe Berra, Peter Haring and Olly Lee are all likely to be available again after loans and injuries.

When asked what team they want to see fans opted for a traditional 4-4-2 with the returning Craig Gordon in goals.

A back four of Michael Smith, Craig Halkett, John Souttar and Ben Garrucio was chosen.

In midfield supporters went with Jordan Roberts on the right, Elliott Frear on the left and Haring and Andy Irving on the middle.

A front-two of Boyce and Naismith was the most popular option in attack.
