How happy have you been with Steve Bruce as Newcastle United manager?

It would be the understatement of the century to say Steve Bruce was a controversial appointment when he took over from Rafa Benitez 18 months ago.

The Corbridge-born boss secured a surprising 13th-placed finish in a Covid-disrupted 2019-20 season, but the squad has seemingly regressed since then, much to the anger of Newcastle United supporters.

There have been bright spots. Wins against Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea, the arrival of proven Premier League internationals last summer and two runs to the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup and League Cup.

However, a lack of tactical direction, inconsistent form, team selection and a war of words in the media have left large swathes of Newcastle's supporter base unhappy with Bruce's managerial performance.

Another failed takeover bid has been an unwelcome distraction, with more poor communication from club hierarchy placing Bruce directly in the firing line of supporters who remain unhappy with progress at St. James' Park.

Add to that the challenge of managing a Premier League team who were badly affected by the global pandemic at the end of 2020, and you realise there has rarely been a dull moment during the Bruce era.

With all that considered, how happy have you been with Steve Bruce as he passes 18 months in charge?

Where should he focus his attention in the second half of the season? Which of his signings have most impressed? Where will Bruce steer the club if he is left in charge?

Take our manager survey and let us know what you think.

We'll collate the results and report back with results very soon.
