Project Odyssey is an EU-funded research project to develop a central database on sharing data about firearm crime.
In this case study, we explain how the project, which is coordinated by Sheffield Hallam University, uses SAS software to enable investigators to find answers quickly and efficiently to queries about firearm crime from a central project database.
The case study covers how this objective was achieved. The system needed to be able to look across all of the appropriate databases. At the same time, the tools and techniques used for uploading, downloading and sharing data had to be secure - and sensitive data kept invisible to certain groups.
