How good is your schedule?

So Celebrity Love Island was a hit, philosophy became a fixture of the Channel Five peaktime schedule and Balls of Steel was something "only Channel 4 would have done". They can say that again.

The three main commercial broadcasters today published their review of 2005 and their programming promises for 2006. They are required to do so by Ofcom, but because the broadcasters write the reviews themselves, they are not exactly independent.

To its credit, ITV appears readier to own up to its mistakes rather more than Channel 4 or Five. Perhaps they had more to own up to. Channel 4 said it was its best year ever, while Five said its key priority for 2006 was comedy. But that's what they said last year. Discuss.
