Language barriers continue to influence everything from workforce readiness and educational access to public services and community engagement. As organizations operate across increasingly diverse populations, the ability to communicate effectively in multiple languages has become a practical necessity rather than a specialized service.
As demand for language accessibility and cross-cultural communication continues to grow, Adrianne Gomez co-founded Global Voices LLC, alongside her husband, Jonathan Gomez, in 2025, with a mission to connect organizations and individuals with language training and consulting services that help remove communication barriers and support meaningful engagement across diverse communities.
According to Adrianne Gomez, the decision grew from years of observing challenges within language education and workforce development. She spent 21 years serving as a linguist in the U.S. Air Force before returning as a civilian program manager, where she spent an additional seven years overseeing language programs, budgets, and operational requirements. Drawing on nearly three decades of experience supporting language readiness and workforce development, Adrianne Gomez became increasingly interested in creating solutions that addressed long-term needs rather than temporary fixes.
"We wanted to create something that genuinely helps people grow their language skills and understand where they are in their learning journey," Adrianne Gomez says. "Language opens doors to connection and understanding, and we wanted to build tools and services that support that process."
Jonathan Gomez, who co-founded the company alongside his wife, brings a complementary background in training and development. After a 20-year military career focused on instruction, curriculum design, and workforce training, he became involved in building educational frameworks that could support the company's long-term vision for language learning and assessment.
"Language learning is ultimately about helping people communicate with confidence," Jonathan Gomez says. "Whether someone is preparing for a professional opportunity, supporting a mission requirement, or simply learning for personal growth, the goal is to create learning experiences that help them develop skills they can actually use."
Today, Global Voices supports a wide range of clients. The company connects language learners with qualified instructors, assists businesses seeking language training for employees, provides language-related consulting services, and supports government organizations that require specialized language expertise. Adrianne Gomez explains that the firm's goal is to serve as a central resource capable of connecting clients with the right language solutions for their specific circumstances.
The need for those services continues to grow as organizations increasingly operate across geographic and cultural boundaries. Research shows that organizations that effectively manage cultural differences experience stronger collaboration, improved communication, higher employee engagement, and better overall organizational performance. As businesses expand into international markets and teams become more geographically dispersed, the ability to navigate language and cultural differences has become an increasingly important component of effective communication, relationship building, and long-term success.
From Adrianne Gomez's perspective, language is about more than translation alone. She notes that organizations often benefit from understanding the cultural context surrounding communication, particularly when working across regions and international markets.
"Language and culture are deeply connected," Adrianne Gomez says. "When people understand both, conversations become more meaningful, relationships become stronger, and organizations are often better positioned to work effectively across different environments."
Although the company now serves a broad audience, its origins were closely tied to government language programs. Drawing on Adrianne Gomez's experience managing large language programs and Jonathan Gomez's background in workforce training, the founders recognized opportunities to streamline access to language services while supporting organizational training objectives. He explains that many government agencies require language training and assessment capabilities, yet managing multiple vendors and contracts can create administrative complexity. Global Voices was initially established to help simplify those processes while connecting organizations with qualified language providers.
That experience also inspired the company's newest initiative. Drawing on years of firsthand exposure to government language testing systems, Adrianne Gomez identified a need for more flexible language assessment tools that could provide faster feedback and support ongoing skill development. The result is an adaptive language assessment platform currently being developed by Global Voices.
Jonathan Gomez notes that the assessment initiative represents only one part of a broader vision for the company. As development continues, the founders plan to expand into additional training and educational offerings designed to help organizations build stronger language capabilities over time.
According to Adrianne Gomez, the assessment is designed around the Interagency Language Roundtable proficiency scale commonly used throughout U.S. government language programs. The platform aims to provide users with detailed feedback while adapting questions based on performance, allowing organizations and learners to better understand current proficiency levels and areas for improvement.
"Our vision is to give people meaningful feedback that helps them improve," Jonathan Gomez explains. "Assessment should provide insight that supports continued learning and development."
The initial phase of development is expected to focus on several high-demand languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Russian, Farsi, and Spanish. Adrianne Gomez notes that future plans include expanding the platform's capabilities and incorporating additional assessment features that support speaking proficiency evaluation.
The company's growth remains closely connected to the values that inspired its creation. Alongside its consulting work, Global Voices has launched a podcast that explores language, culture, and human experiences across diverse communities. Jonathan Gomez views those conversations as an extension of the company's broader mission to foster understanding across different backgrounds and perspectives.
As Global Voices LLC continues to expand its services, Adrianne Gomez remains focused on the larger purpose behind the business.
"Every language carries a story, a culture, and a unique way of seeing the world," Adrianne Gomez says. "When people take the time to understand one another across those differences, they create stronger relationships, stronger organizations, and stronger communities. That opportunity to bring people together is what continues to motivate our family and our work."
