How former Newcastle manager Alan Pardew's Dutch adventure is beginning to go horribly wrong

It has been two months since former Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew took over Dutch side ADO Den Haag.

The 58-year-old was tasked of reviving the fortunes of the Hague outfit with them struggling at the wrong end of the Eredivisie table.

Pardew brought with him former Charlton and Huddersfield manager and current England first-team coach Chris Powell as his assistant manager as he looked to kickstart a managerial career that was on the slide following a poor spell in charge of West Bromwich Albion.

Despite winning his first game in charge, De Residentieclub are without a win in their last five matches and remain in the relegation zone.

And he is facing a chaotic situation after angry fans stormed the club's training ground this week.

A group of supporters interrupted Den Haag’s training session on Wednesday to air their dissatisfaction at the tactics since Pardew took charge.

Pardew has been widely criticised in the Dutch press in recent weeks amid talk of unrest in the changing room and the supporters turned up with a flipboard and discussed tactics with the players and the club’s coaching staff.

The former Crystal Palace boss is said to have listened calmly to the fans' suggestions, alongside his players and staff, before the session returned to normal.

Despite leading Newcastle to a fifth-placed finish and Europa League football in his first full season in charge, poor results and perceived poor tactical choices saw Pardew's relationship with the Magpies supporters hugely deteriorate before he left the club in December 2014 to become Crystal Palace manager.

Den Haag find themselves four points adrift of the relegation play-off place and six points behind absolute safety.

They face Heracles this weekend in a must-win clash at the Kyocera Stadium.
