How far Chelsea will be travelling this pre-season compared to their big six rivals

The Premier League's six biggest clubs will travel more than 80,000 miles between them on their pre-season tours this summer.

Pre-season friendlies were once just a way of getting squads match fit and ready for the new campaign.

Often they just involved local clubs, maybe a jaunt into sunny Europe and were followed by a handful of die-hard fans. Now they’re global extravaganzas, big money spinners and draw in hundreds of thousands of fans.

This summer, Chelsea will make trips to Foxborough, Massachusetts and Yokohama mean their tour comes in at an estimated 15,969 miles in a round trip journey starting and finishing at the home of the Blues at Stamford Bridge.

That’s the second highest total of any of the Premier League’s top six sides.

Manchester United’s friendlies in Perth, Singapore, Shanghai and Cardiff will see them travel an estimated 19,838 miles.

Tottenham travel to Singapore and Shanghai (14,815 miles), Manchester City to Nanjing, Shanghai and Yokohama (13,724 miles), Arsenal to
Colorado, Los Angeles, Charlotte and Washington DC (11,632 miles) and Liverpool to Indiana, Boston and New York (7,999 miles).

That works out at a total of 83,977 miles between the big six clubs, more than three times round the world.
