How far Arsenal will travel in pre-season compared to Chelsea, Spurs & other big six rivals

Arsenal are heading stateside this summer and will be contributing to more than 80,000 miles that the Premier League's big six clubs will travel between them on their pre-season tours this summer.

Pre-season friendlies were once just a way of getting squads match fit and ready for the new campaign.

Often they just involved local clubs, maybe trips to Europe and a following of some of the club's most loyal supporters. But now, that is not the case, with the big clubs travelling far and wide on money-spinning tours that draw in hundreds of thousands of fans.

Arsenal are no different, with the Gunners set to travel to Colorado, Los Angeles, Charlotte and Washington DC this summer. That’s an estimated 11,632 mile round trip starting and finishing at the Emirates.

Manchester United’s friendlies in Perth, Singapore, Shanghai and Cardiff will see them travel an estimated 19,838 miles.

Chelsea’s trips to Foxborough, Massachusetts and Yokohama mean their tour comes in at an estimated 15,969 miles.

Tottenham travel to Singapore and Shanghai (14,815 miles), Manchester City to Nanjing, Shanghai and Yokohama (13,724 miles), and Liverpool

to Indiana, Boston and New York (7,999 miles).

That works out at a total of 83,977 miles between the big six clubs, more than three times round the world.
