How 'exciting' ex-Cardiff City man Kadeem Harris has taken Sheffield Wednesday by storm

The departure of Kadeem Harris came as a bit of surprise to a number of fans.

The winger was released on a free transfer earlier in the summer, despite seemingly being a something of a favourite under Neil Warnock.

Harris has since gone on to join Sheffield Wednesday, who are one of the surprise packages in the Championship this season, having taken nine points from a possible 12.

The 26-year old was on target for the Owls in the win over Luton Town, his second goal of the season, and has proved a big hit with the locals at Hillsborough.

So, were Cardiff right to let him go?

We spoke to Dom Howson of the Sheffield Star to get his take on how Harris has performed so far...

How has he performed?

Very well. Harris has arguably been the Owls’ standout performer in their opening four league fixtures.

Quick, skillful and direct, Harris has been a great outlet on the left-hand side of Wednesday’s 4-3-3 formation. He has chipped in with two goals and could have scored more.

It is abundantly clear Harris is enjoying his football. He is playing with a smile on his face and is benefiting from a regular run in the team.

What the club/fans/manager think of him?

The fans have really taken to Harris. He is exciting and gets supporters on the edge of their seats with his pace and trickery.

For years, Wednesday were lacking genuine pace in the wide areas so the the arrival of Harris has added an extra dimension to their forward line.

Caretaker manager Lee Bullen is a big fan of Harris’s qualities. He has told Harris to stay wide and to hug the touchline and Harris has carried out his instructions to a tee so far this season.

Were Cardiff silly to let him go?

It is still early days but Harris looks a bargain free transfer. He was exactly what the Owls were missing.

But the key for Harris is consistency. He has performed at a high standard since arriving at Hillsborough and he must maintain that form to retain his place in the side as Wednesday are not short of attacking options.
