How every Welsh MP voted in crucial decision on December general election

MPs have voted to hold a general election on December 12.

Boris Johnson had tried three times for an early election but by changing tack he got enough support on Tuesday to take the country to the polls before Christmas.

After the third defeat Commons leader Jacob Rees-Mogg told MPs on Monday the Government would put forward a single line bill calling for an election on December 12.

That means instead of the two-thirds majority which was needed for the previous three votes just a simple majority of MPs was needed.

The vote passed by 438 votes to 20 giving a majority of 418, with abstentions. You can follow all the latest reaction and analysis live here.

Ther 20 votes against holding the election included seven Welsh MPs: Ann Clwyd (Labour, Cynon Valley), Jonathan Edwards (Plaid, Carmarthen East and Dinefwr), Ian Lucas (Labour, Wrexham), Albert Owen (Labour, Ynys Mon), Liz Saville Roberts (Plaid Cymru, Dwyfor Meirionydd), Owen Smith (Labour, Pontypridd), and Hywel Williams (Plaid Cymru, Arfon).

All six Welsh Conservatives voted for the election.

Labour's Welsh MPs were split with some voting in favour, some against, and some abstaining.

The House of Lords will now debate the Bill on Wednesday.
