How EE is building young girls’ confidence on and off the pitch ahead of the Women’s Euros

The women's Euros are just around the corner, starting on 2 July, and the incredible football that will be on display will no doubt inspire even more girls and women to get involved in the sport.

Every major tournament sees a spike in interest with Euro 2022 particularly cutting through. Reports suggest over 100,000 more women and girls have taken up the sport in England since the Lionesses beat Germany at Wembley.

In order to keep the numbers growing, at a participation level as well as growing ways for fans to support their teams, EE have committed to building young girls’ confidence on and off the pitch.

EE, Lead Partner of the Home Nations Football Associations, have developed a 'Squad Goals’ platform.

The platform, accessible on EE Learnsmart, highlights ways in which women and girls can get involved in the game. It can show them their closest local club to start playing and events they can attend with friends where they can watch Euro 2025 games.

There are also Learnsmart lessons where supporters can be taught skills by England and Wales players and additionally there is a competition to enter.

In order to access all of the above, all fans have to do is search EE Squad and they will be led to the Squad Goals page on Learnsmart.

It is a great time to get involved in women's football with it growing year-on-year with millions expected to tune into the tournament this summer.

England are the first senior English team to be defending a major title since 1970. The Lionesses are not the only team who supporters will want to keep an eye on either.

Spain are also amongst the favourites with a team completely stacked with stars like back-to-back Ballon d'Or winners Aitana Bonmati and Alexia Putellas.

France and Germany will also be vying for the trophy but it is not just the favourites who supporters will want to watch, there are many stories happening across the tournament.

Wales and Poland will be playing in a Euros for the first time, Switzerland are hosting and it may be the last time some icons of the game play in a major tournament.
