Harry Brockbank's goal ought to have stood for Bolton against Cambridge United and skipper Antoni Sarcevic is now starting to show the quality he has in a Wanderers shirt.
That's the view of pundit and former striker Sam Parkin.
Wanderers came from behind against the U's when Sarcevic struck before the end to cancel out Billy Crellin's own goal after the goalkeeper's attempted parry of Jack Iredale's cross ended up in his own net.
At the start of the second half, Bolton thought they had taken the lead when Brockbank tapped home into an empty net, only for the linesman's flag to be raised for offside.
And speaking as a pundit on the EFL highlights show on Quest, Parkin believes that Bolton are now starting to find their feet under Ian Evatt.
He felt Brockbank's goal should have been allowed, and praised Sarcevic for his role in the disallowed strike and the one which did count.
Parkin said: "I played with Ian Evatt a long time ago and he’s a good guy, but it can be a dangerous game, but it’s got a decent reaction from the players.
"I thought there were much better today, they’re starting to get to grips with the shape and a really nice patient way that he wants them to play. But they’re moving it with a bit more purpose now.
"The shape looks better and I thought it was a good point, a really deserved point.
"There was 16 passes for the goal during the build up and a goal that should have been allowed.
"You see Sarcevic with a great little bit of improvisation, you think he’s going to shoot and he plays it in square and I don’t think it’s offside. The left sided centre half looks like he’s still onside."
On Sarcevic's goal, Parkin said: "It’s a great finish from a player who is very capable and starting to show in a Bolton shirt that he’s got great quality."
Fellow pundit Clinton Morrison agreed with Parkin's assessment of the disallowed strike, adding: "“How does the linesman give that? It’s a great move."
