Snapchat users are freaking out after the social media platform's latest update.
Social media users are used to giving away certain details when they sign up, including name, email address and date of birth.
However, Snapchat users have recently found out that the app knows even more about them than they initially realised.
Over the past week, users have found out that Snapchat knows the exact time and location you were born – and it's very creepy.
Users took to Twitter to discuss their shocking discovery – and everyone seems to be very confused about how the information has been collected.
One social media user said: "How creepy is snapchat being able to know where and what time you were born at."
Another user typed: "@Snapchat how on earth have you found out people's EXACT time of birth and where?! It's creepy as hell!"
A third user wrote: "How on earth does Snapchat know what exact time I was born? I AM FRAKED OUT."
So how exactly does Snapchat know this personal information? Here we explain.
How does Snapchat know what time you were born?

The truth is, the reason Snapchat knows this personal information is because you entered that information.
Don't worry, Snapchat has not magically accessed your birth record to find out the exact time and place you were born.
The app knows the information because of the Astrological Birthday setting.
A purple Astrological Birthday button was added to the app during a 2020 update.
Once clicked, users were asked for a date, time and place of birth. This information was used to create an accurate Astrological Profile.
This is the only reason why Snapchat would know that information.
How to remove your date, time and place of birth from Snapchat
Thankfully it's easy to remove the information if you updated it by mistake.
Open the Snapchat app and click on the Bitmoji in the top left-hand corner.
This will allow you to access your profile, and you'll be able to click on the cog symbol in the top right corner to access the settings.
Click Birthday and you'll see a subheading called My Astrological Birthday.
Click on the X symbol next to it to remove the information from Snapchat.
Alternatively, if you want to change the time in the settings because it's wrong, you can do that too.
Under the My Astrological Birthday setting simply change the time and hit "full.
