Catholics have been waiting in anticipation for Pope Francis’s publication on the family life, with many hoping that it will mean a change in the way the Church views divorce and gay people.

Following two years of consultation, the Holy Father’s release of the apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia (Joy of Love) on Friday has called for the Catholic church to reconsider its response to modern family life. Striking a balance between a more accepting tone towards gay people and the defence of traditional church teachings on issues such as abortion.

Among these topics, the document also mentions how the Church addresses fertility treatment, contraception, poverty, migration, violence and abuse.

If you’re Catholic we’d like to hear from you. What do you think of the Pope’s document? How will you be affected by it? Does it meet your expectations? We’ll feature some of your responses on the site.
