How do we get Virgin Media to junk all this mail?

Is there no end to this mountain of junk mail?

Virgin Media promised to stop sending unwanted junk mail six months ago. But it has not stopped. Has anyone any suggestion as to how to get this insensitive organisation to respond? I am drowning in unwanted mail! CM, London SW20

Virgin says readers should email their full name and address (including the postcode) to optout@virginmedia.co.uk. This is processed within “a couple of days”. However, you may receive letters for up to a further six weeks due to the way it processes its data. Readers can also phone 0345 454 2222 to ask to be removed from the mailing list. The agent fills out a form on its system, and the same process/timing applies.

Virgin assures us it has now removed you from all lists. We really think it needs to address this problem as a matter of urgency.

We welcome letters but cannot answer individually. Email us at consumer.champions@theguardian.com or write to Consumer Champions, Money, The Guardian, 90 York Way, London N1 9GU. Please include a daytime phone number
