How Do Sequences Work in Skate 4?

The main appeal of skate. is the ability to do crazy combos with your skateboard. Go from trick to trick as smoothly as possible and show off your flashy line. Well, that’s exactly what a sequence is in skate.

However, there is much more to it than just chaining tricks together. It takes a certain level of mastery to be able to pull off clean and sick sequences. Skate offers players so much freedom to be able to do whatever crazy trick comes to mind. So, here is how sequences work in skate., but more importantly, how to extend and make your sequences look even cooler.

What Are Sequences In Skate

In very simple terms, a sequence is basically a combo of tricks. For instance, a kickflip, into a manual, into a revert, into a hippie jump, that’s basically a sequence. It’s mainly referred to as a line in skate.

When you perform a trick in skate., it will register it at the bottom-left of the screen with some score. When you do another trick after it, the score increases, and a sequence starts. The more tricks you do, the higher the score and the score multiplier gets. However, you can’t take too long in between tricks, as that could end the line. When you take time between your tricks, the score multiplier starts decreasing to 1.5x, and the line ends.

So, you have to be quick to transition between different tricks, or your combo will break. That’s essentially what a sequence is.

How to Extend And Make Your Sequences Look Better

skate sequence grinding over a rail

You might have already done a few cool sequences in the game. The good old flick the right stick until something cool happens usually works really well. However, there is a lot of room for improvement in these sequences. Here are a couple of things you can do to improve your sequences.

Location Is Very Important

The surroundings and area really matter if you want to pull off a cool line. There is only so much you can do on a flat road. There are tons of great skating spots all around San Vansterdam to check out. A good location with ramps, railings, stairs, or other objects really helps open your mind to ideas.

When you have a variety of objects around you, there are a lot of different things you can do to improve your sequences. Plus, it also allows you to keep a line going for longer. You can quickly jump on a rail, go down a ramp, or flip over an obstacle to keep a line going.

Use Quick Drop

To improve your location even further, you can use the Quick Drop feature in skate. For instance, if you see a cool rail you want to grind but you can’t get the height from just an ollie, you can put down a ramp there to help you. This is just one example. In theory, you can create a small skate park just by using Quick Drop.

This will not only help add variety to your line but also open your mind to new ideas.

Explore The Skatepedia

There are so many tricks that the game just doesn’t teach you in the tutorials. All you need to do is check the skatepedia in the game, and you will find a lot of tricks to try. There are grabs, slappies, different types of flip tricks, and so much more.

Try To Add Variety

When you check the skatepedia for more tricks that you will be able to add variety in your sequences. Instead of just a kickflip over a ramp, you can try different tricks. Variety helps keep your sequences fresh and unique.

Learn Transition Tricks

Let’s say you just landed from grinding a rail, and you are on your way to the next. This space in between is where you will usually do nothing except gain some speed or prepare for an ollie. But this is just a wasted score. That’s what transition tricks are known for. They help you keep that score and look flashy while moving from one part of the sequence to another.

Tricks like Manuals, Reverts, and Hippie Jump are quick tricks that you can put between two tricks to make your sequence look better. Not only that, you can also extend your line. After your last trick, instead of just skating until you stop, you can land into a manual and end with that. That alone extends your sequence by so much and gets you that extra score that every skate. player is chasing.
