How do AFC South standings look entering Week 9?

The Indianapolis Colts are officially entering the second half of the season ready for what appears to be a battle for the top of the AFC South division.

It’s an extremely tight race in the division, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if it winds up coming down to the final few weeks to decide which team will hold the top spot.

Here’s a look at the AFC South standings entering Week 9:

1. Indianapolis Colts (5-2)

The Colts had some concerns during the Week 8 battle with the Denver Broncos, but a heroic drive late in the game by quarterback Jacoby Brissett led Indy to their third win in a row. The defense did its job against a bad Broncos offense, and they were able to hold onto the top spot in the division.

The Colts are on the road in Week 9 visiting the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field.

2. Houston Texans (5-3)

The Texans are right behind the Colts following their comeback win over the Oakland Raiders at home. Deshaun Watson had another big game with three touchdown passes, but there was some unfortunate news in J.J. Watt’s season-ending injury.

The Texans have a big divisional matchup in Week 9 on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars at TIAA Bank Field.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-4)

The Jaguars are trying to keep pace in the division as the season enters the second half. Gardner Minshew had his best game yet against the Jets, throwing for 274 yards and three touchdowns. Leonard Fournette continued his strong campaign totaling 136 yards on 26 touches.

The Jaguars can make up some ground when they host the Texans in Week 9.

4. Tennessee Titans (4-4)

The Titans pulled out the home win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but remain in fourth place. Ryan Tannehill tossed three touchdown passes while tight end Jonnu Smith caught six passes for 78 yards and one of those touchdowns.

The Titans are on the road in Week 9 visiting the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium.
