'How did we lose?' - Sunderland fans react to first loss of the season in Burton Albion defeat

Sunderland's perfect start to the season came to an end with defeat at Burton Albion.

Jonny Smith's goal just after the hour-mark was enough to settle the Tuesday night contest in favour of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's side.

Lee Johnson made just one change to the side which triumphed at MK Dons on Saturday, with Luke O'Nien taking the place of Corry Evans.

Aiden McGeady was handed the captain's armband in the absence of the Northern Ireland international, while new loan signings Frederik Alves and Nathan Broadhead were named on the bench.

McGeady, Lynden Gooch and Ross Stewart were all guilty of squandering chances to fire Johnson's side in front at the Pirelli Stadium.

The Black Cats were made to pay for this profligacy when Smith netted the only goal of the match in the 66th minute, and had a last-minute equaliser from Tom Flanagan controversially ruled out for offside.

This is how Sunderland fans reacted to the club's first loss of the season.

How did we lose that?

We played well

Embarrassing

Totally robbed

Should have won the game easily
