How did the Boston Celtics blow a 30-point lead to lose to the Atlanta Hawks?

For the first time since the NBA’s 1996-97 season, the Boston Celtics have found a way to do a thing that is exceptionally rare for a Celtics ball club to accomplish. In fact, given the historic offense of this particular iteration of the Celtics made it all the weirder that they found a way to lose a game they had been leading by 30 points.

That loss, a 120-118 defeat at the hands of the lowly, banged-up Atlanta Hawks, has riled up the Boston fan base in a major way, and understandably so. Without Trae Young, Onyeka Okongwu, or Celtics killer Saddiq Bey, the Hawks chipped away at Boston’s lead in the second half to steal a win on their home court.

The hosts of the NBC Sports Boston “Celtics Talk” podcast took a closer look at what went wrong for Boston on a recent episode.
