Feb. 03--Amanda Rosner will likely remember this moment in history.
The Northwestern University freshman came in third place in Wednesday's quarterfinal round of the "Jeopardy" College Championship, but she's not out of the game yet.
Rosner, who hails from Sandy Springs, Ga., may be one of four runners-up who land a wild card spot to continue in the tournament.
Rosner had a tough start to the competition, landing in the red almost immediately but she slowly came back. She entered the final "Jeopardy" round in third place with $6,600. She wagered all her money on the category "moments in history" and answered the question correctly.
But so did her competitors, Sam Deutsch, of the University of Southern California, and Michael Sieja, of Mississippi State University. Deutsch won the game with $14,401 while Sieja earned $14,400.
The four non-winners with the highest money totals will snag wild card spots, which will be announced Friday. If Rosner earns a wild card, it will be the last slot. Sieja and two other contestants have posted totals of $14,000 or more. Rosner finished with $13,200.
The winners move on to the semifinals to compete for the $100,000 prize.
Rosner posted a picture with "Jeopardy" host Alex Trebek last month on Facebook and labeled it her "peak achievement." In Wednesday's episode, she bantered with Trebek about jumping into Lake Michigan in December for a fundraiser.
"I'm still working on regaining feeling in my left leg," Rosner joked.
"Jeopardy" airs weekdays at 3:30 p.m. on WLS-Ch. 7.
