How did Dublin contenders do in the 61st year of the Tidy Town competition?

The results are in from the 61st Tidy Town, and it's been another solid year from contestants in the capital.

Picturesque Glaslough in Co Monaghan was crowned overall winner of the competition, beating off competition from a record 918 entries.

There were awards for our towns across several categories, with northside towns Skerries and Malahide, as well as southside's Dalkey all earning gold medals.

Shankill, Cabinteely, and Cellbridge all earned silver medals, an improvement on their bronze score last year.

Swords also earned a silver medal, while Raheny earned bronze.

There was also a widespread improvement in the overall points scored for many of our entrants.

Entrants across the capital took to social media to announce their delight with their results.

Malahide tidy towns said: "Congratulations to Glaslough for winning the Tidy Towns this year.

"A huge congratulations to Malahide for once again winning a Gold Medal and increasing our points in practically every category! We are very happy!

"Thank you everyone for all your help throughout the year."

Meanwhile, Dalkey Tidy Town were delighted with an 'outstanding' additional eight points from last year. They said : "All in our Dalkey Towns Team want to say a BIG THANK YOU to all our neighbours, friends and DLRCC for their support this year.

"Earning an additional eight points was outstanding."
