“How could you?” - Chelsea fans send Marina Granovskaia message after Fikayo Tomori display

Chelsea fans were left baffled on Wednesday night after Fikayo Tomori turned in a fantastic performance for AC Milan against Liverpool.

Travelling to Anfield, the ex-Blues defender partnered Simon Kjaer at the heart of the Italians’ defence, making his Champions League debut for the club in the process.

Before the game, the Danish defender had praised the Englishman for his “fantastic” attributes having seen Tomori complete a permanent switch to the San Siro earlier this summer.

He was one of a number of big money departures from Chelsea during the summer window - Tomori, Marc Guehi and Kurt Zouma earning the club £73million between them.

Despite scoring an unfortunate own-goal and being on the end of a 3-2 reverse on Merseyside, the former Chelsea man still managed to turn in an extremely accomplished showing.

With Chelsea having pursued Jules Kounde throughout the summer, supporters were left to reflect on the decision to sell Tomori to AC Milan and possibly what could have been had he been allowed to remain at Stamford Bridge for the current campaign.

Some have even expressed their hope of the defender being brought back to west London at some point in the near future.

Here are the best responses from social media to Tomori’s display against Liverpool.

Intriguingly, Tomori’s appearance at Anfield was his 26th outing in an AC Milan shirt over his two spells which includes his eye-catching loan spell last term.

He is now just one appearance from the total amount of appearances he managed to make for Chelsea throughout his time at Stamford Bridge.

Indeed, the now 23-year-old was also absent last season as the Blues lifted the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel as he was on his initial loan spell in Italy.
