How Chester-le-Street Splash Pad opening hours will be affected by Cricket World Cup

Always a very popular attraction with North East families, particularly when the region is bathed in loads of sunshine, Chester-le-Street Splash Pad is now open for 2019.

Durham County Council recognises the park’s attraction to people from right around the region and made a significant investment into the new Splash Pad which replaced the ageing pool that used to be there.

And the reaction from the public has been hugely positive, with the attraction, which has free entry, becoming a must for North East families over the summer months.

It's current opening hours are: Friday, June 7 - to Sunday, June 30: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday - 10am-6pm

Monday, July 1 to Sunday, September 1: every day - 10am-6pm.

There's a big but after that though as the Splash Pad's opening hours will be affected by the arrival of the Cricket World Cup to the Emirates Riverside ground over the road.

The Splash Pad will be closed on Friday, June 28, Monday, July 1 and Wednesday, July 1.

Elsewhere in Chester-le-Street Riverside Park there is a play area that covers an area of approximately 5,000 square metres and is suitable for all children, from toddlers to children in their teens.

Its central feature is a 16 foot castle, inspired by the nearby Lumley Castle which overlooks the park.
