How Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori is keeping his mind focused during Premier League shutdown

Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori has snubbed PlayStation sessions during the current coronavirus lockdown in order to finish his degree.

The England international, 22, has been working towards a degree in business management from the Open University in order to prepare for life after playing, even at such a young age.

With Tomori having enjoyed a breakthrough season in the Premier League and at international level, making his Three Lions debut against Kosovo in November 2019, there had been little time for studying during the season.

However, with lockdown leaving plenty of spare time, Tomori has worked through his final assignments and is now on the lookout for something else to keep his mind engaged.

"When this all came about I had three or four assignments left," Tomori told Sky Sports. "So when football stopped I just saw it as a chance to focus, get it all done and give myself a bit of breathing space.

"That is all done now, so I am a bit more bored. It is something that I thought would help me with my focus, my mind, on and off the pitch. It keeps me out of trouble as well!

"I've never really been a gamer. I've always been, I like to think, pretty intelligent, that is just me as a person.

"I like to engage my brain and keep it ticking, keep myself focused and give me something to do away from football."
