How Celtic players rated as Neil Lennon's misfiring stars crash out of Europa League

Here are Celtic's player ratings after they were knocked out of the Europa League following a 4-1 defeat to Sparta Prague.

Celtic player ratings

Bain

The keeper was at fault for Sparta's fourth as he rushed out of goal. To be fair to the Scot, the game was already lost but he's not good enough to be a number one keeper at Celtic. Vasilis Barkas could find himself back in the side at the weekend. 5

Elhamed

A horrible error that led to Sparta's third goal as his weak header helped the Czech side launch a counter. Final ball could have been better going forward too. 4

Jullien

Not the best return to the side. Vital header to start the counter attack for Celtic's opener, but lost his man at the near post for Sparta's second goal. 5

Ajer

Poor from the Norwegian as he left the cross for Sparta's second go past him when he could have cut it out. Not his best game by any stretch. 5

Laxalt

One of Celtic's best performers yet again. Always driving forward and taking his side up the pitch, but he can only do so much. 6

McGregor

Struggled to get into the game in the first half and he was guilty of not stepping out for Sparta's opener as he played three players on side. 4

Brown

Like McGregor, the skipper had a very difficult first half as he failed to clear the ball from a corner for Sparta's equaliser, before being subbed in the second half. 4

Christie

Grew into the match in the second half as he popped up in more central areas and got closer to Edouard, but still relatively quiet. 5

Ntcham

Couldn't do anything right in the first half, but a little better after the break as he dropped deeper when Scott Brown went off. Failed to track back as Sparta made it 3-1. Celtic fans still expect more from him. 5

Elyounoussi

Launched a counter attack for Celtic's opening goal, but that was his only note worthy moment. Struggling for consistency. 4

Edouard

Looked back to his best as he put Celtic ahead with a dazzling solo goal. But showed he's not quite at the same level yet as he missed a guilt edge chance to bring his side level in the second half. 6

Subs:

Rogic

On for Brown for the final half an hour, but struggled to make the desired impact. 4

Klimala

On for the last 10 minutes as Celtic lost the third goal, but the game was over. 3
