How Celtic could line up after the international break as new signings and long trips factor in

It's been a hectic start to Scottish football as players jetting off to represent their countries signalled the end of a busy period of opening fixtures.

Celtic would have loved to have gone into the international break on the back of an Old Firm win, but Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Ibrox will make the wait of next week's return to domestic action feel that bit longer.

Derby day already feels like a distant memory after the Hoops' frantic transfer deadline activity.

But despite Ange Postecoglou losing some of his top men, he'll be more eager than anyone to bounce back when his side take on Ross County on September 11.

Three new faces came in the door before the window slammed shut on Tuesday, and the Parkhead boss won't need too much encouragement to throw Jota, Giorgos Giakoumakis or Cameron Carter-Vickers straight into the fold - like he has with new signings already.

The departures of Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie have guaranteed a starting-11 shake-up, however some long trips abroad will need to be given careful consideration when Celtic look to get back to winning ways next week.

Those furthest across the globe include star performers Tom Rogic and Kyogo Furuhashi representing Australia and Japan respectively.

Rogic flies back from Vietnam after his country's fixture on September 7, meanwhile Kyogo returns from Qatar when his side take on China in the World Cup qualifiers.

The attacking pair will have little training with their teammates prior to the Scottish Premiership clash days after they land and could well be rested. But will this grant a debut for new striker Giakoumakis?

In the wide areas, Liel Abada has managed some game time for Israel this week. They play Denmark on Tuesday evening (September 7) which might call on a much-needed rest ahead of his club's next match, with the 19-year-old already playing a lot of football under the new boss.

But that may depend on the fitness of James Forrest who missed the Ibrox clash and pulled out the Scotland squad due to injury.

Staying with Steve Clarke's camp, both Callum McGregor and David Turnbull will most certainly occupy the midfield, with Ismaila Soro filling in after the break.

Celtic strengthened in defensive personnel during the latter stages of the summer window. However, it is unlikely Postecoglou will change much across his back four.

Carter-Vickers along with Liam Scales will be ready to be called upon on the bench but may have to wait for their first appearance in Hoops.

Josip Juranovic is expected to play 90 minutes for Croatia when they take on Slovenia at home on Tuesday, but after the trust shown to play him against Rangers, he will most likely return to the manager's starting 11.
