Jason Garrett doesn't do this often. But Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald is so good, he made an exception.
The Cowboys head coach has put together tape of Fitzgerald to show his players how to play the game.
"I see a great player," Garrett said. "I see a guy who plays the game the right way. He's one of those guys, and this doesn't happen very often, but we've used him as an example in front of our team of how to play.
"He's a special player. He's a special guy. Talk about an ambassador for the NFL. He represents everything that's good about this game, one of the premier players of his generation. He practices the right way. He plays the right way. He does it with the right spirit. He's a generous guy with his teammates, he's a generous guy with guys around the league. His role in the community has been incredible.
"I have nothing but the highest admiration for that guy."
Fitzgerald enters the Monday night contest with a reception in 197 consecutive games. If he picks up 97 yards receiving against the Cowboys, he will pass Marvin Harrison (14,580 yards) for eighth place on the NFL's all-time receiving yardage list.
Garrett said it was a couple of years ago that he showed his players tape of Fitzgerald. He's only done that with opposing players a handful of times.
"We showed some clips of him during the game, how he had success, how he handled adversity, how he runs back to the huddle, big smile that he has on his face," Garrett said. "He always plays with such great body language.
"He's pretty remarkable."
