How businesses around Bristol Bridge have been affected by Extinction Rebellion protests

One of the city's busiest bridges was closed throughout today (Monday, July 15) as Extinction Rebellion launched its 'summer uprising'.

This meant buses were forced to divert away from Bristol Bridge and many workers struggled to reach the city centre without walking.

Bristol Live went to speak to nearby businesses about what effect today's protests had on them.

And most reported, the impact was minimal.

A manager at Oowee which is based on Baldwin Street said :"We haven't noticed a drop in people coming through our doors.

"Some of our deliveries have been slightly delayed but nothing too lengthy."

Kait Houlbrook, from Brewdog, said: "We had more food orders today than normal.

"There's not been any disruption to us,"

While Eve Morgan at Five Grain said: “There is no normal day but we’ve definitely had a lot of trade from people coming in from the protest.

"We have their leaflets here too.”

And Jasmin Everson at Woolly Cactus, based on Bath Street said: "We’ve had a really busy day and everyone has been really pleasant.

"I was a bit worried about my food deliveries this morning but they were fine.”

A manager at San, a Japanese restaurant pm Baldwin Street, said: "Business has been a be quieter than usual.

"I'm worried about how food deliveries are going to get here this week too."
