Bournemouth defender Steve Cook has explained the tactical adjustments the Cherries made which helped to nullify the attacking threat of Manchester United winger Daniel James.
United started well at the Vitality Stadium and the Wales international enjoyed a fair bit of success on the right wing in the opening 20 minutes.
However, Eddie Howe's men made a slight change which helped put them on the front foot, with Josh King scoring the only goal of the game shortly after.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men never looked like scoring after falling behind and Cook revealed the small change Bournemouth made to keep James quiet.
"The space came from our goal kicks. We sort of split to try and exploit the second ball but they picked it up quite a few times and then broke in space," he told The Athletic.
"We had a quiet word and came up the pitch. I think that nullified Daniel James quite well."
The defender also revealed that the Cherries identified Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial as United's two most dangerous players and their success would step from keeping them quiet.
He added: "Rashford and Martial are top strikers in really good form. We felt that if we dealt with those two, it would go a long way to winning the game for us.
"We showed them wide, kept them on their weaker foot. Fortunately, we limited them to not many shots. If you can make their midfielders shoot from quite far out, it’s obviously easier to defend."
