How Bobby Duncan fared on Fiorentina debut following acrimonious Liverpool exit

Former Liverpool forward Bobby Duncan made his debut for new club Fiorentina in a friendly on Friday night.

The 18-year-old - who left Anfield under a cloud following a series of accusations against the club and sporting director Michael Edwards by his agent Saif Rubie - joined the Serie A side in a £1.8million deal last week.

Duncan, who never played for Liverpool's first team in a competitive game, came on as a 74th minute substitute for former France and Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery against Serie B side Perugia at Fiorentina's Artemio Franchi stadium.

In a friendly organised for Fiorentina's new and non-international players in order to hone their fitness, and also to raise money for the Meyer Children's Hospital Foundation, the hosts won 1-0 courtesy of a first half goal from Spanish midfielder Tofol Montiel.

Duncan tweeted an image of him in action in a Fiorentina shirt on Saturday, with the words "Happy to make my Fiorentina debut."

The forward wore the No.26 shirt during his cameo appearance, but it isn't clear whether that will be his shirt number full-time or if he'll spent the season in the Fiorentina first-team setup.

Vincenzo Montella's side have started the season with back-to-back defeats in Serie A, losing 4-3 to Napoli and 2-1 to Genoa.

As well as Ribery, Fiorentina's first-team squad can boast the likes of the former Tottenham Hotspur, Portsmouth and Barcelona forward Kevin-Prince Boateng, exciting Italian international winger Federico Chiesa and Algerian winger Rachid Ghezzal, who is on loan at the club from Leicester City for the season.

They return to Serie A action with a home game against perennial Italian champions Juventus after the end of the international break next weekend.
