How best to get long-term shareholder return? You might be better off with a woman CEO

How best to get long-term returns from your portfolio? You might want to try stocks with a woman at the helm.

Spy gathered some Bloomberg data looking at total shareholder return at FTSE 250 companies led by men and women CEOs.

The data suggests that, if you’ve held a stock for a year or two, you’d be better off with a man. But hold on for five or six years and you can expect better returns from a woman.

And even in the short-term, there are signs things could be better when more women are in charge. There is only one all-woman CEO-CFO double-act in the 250 right now -- Darktrace -- and the stock is already up by more than a third in the past year. So perhaps the London Stock Exchange could be revived with a few more of those.
