How Ben Watson has been helping Nottingham Forest teammate Samba Sow

Samba Sow says he is benefitting from the help of his Nottingham Forest teammates as he settles in to life in the Championship.

The Mali international has made six appearances for the Reds so far since making the move from Dynamo Moscow this summer, in what is his first taste of English football.

And he says some of those players who already knew what to expect from the second tier have helped him to adapt, including fellow midfielder Ben Watson.

“We have some experienced players in the team, like Ben - he can help,” said Sow.

“He is experienced, he knows the league and has played a lot of games.

“To play with him is good because he can help me a lot.

“I am just focused on what I have to do in training and in games.

“My teammates have helped me a lot and the club have helped me to be happy.

“I just want to help the team, that’s my goal. I just try to play my football and be good on the pitch.

“For sure, my teammates and the coaches are going to help me play my best.”

Sow has played a key part for Forest in a promising start to the season under Sabri Lamouchi, with a 1-0 victory at Swansea City on Saturday having extended their unbeaten run to eight games in all competitions.

He believes the Reds have enough quality in their team to mount a promotion push this term - but adds “only the pitch” will decide their fate. Or at least how the team fare on it.

And he says he is enjoying working with the French head coach.

“It is good because he speaks French! He doesn’t need to translate to me and I understand everything,” the 30-year-old said of Lamouchi.

“I hope we can do something good this year.

“I think we have the team and the players (for a promotion push), but only the pitch can decide this.

“To do that, we just need to keep going, work hard and then we will see what can happen. You never know in the Championship.

“We have a good team, good players, but we can all always do more. Everybody has to give 100 percent to help the team and achieve our goals.

“We have to keep working on the training ground because we are not perfect. We will still make some mistakes.”
