How Barcelona would line up in dream XI featuring Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi

Barcelona have been linked with a sensational move for Cristiano Ronaldo - yes, really.

Reports in Spain claim Barcelona president Joan Laporta is keen on getting one over bitter rivals Real Madrid by pairing Ronaldo with Lionel Messi at the Camp Nou.

Ronaldo has just one year left on his contract with Juventus and is expected to leave the Italian club this summer after they failed to win a tenth Serie A title this season.

A whole host of top clubs have been linked with the Portugal international forward's signature, including both of his former sides Manchester United and Real Madrid.

And Barcelona are reportedly monitoring his situation and are keen to gazump the duo.

According to Diario AS, the cash-strapped La Liga giants would have to part company with some big-name players to balance the books.

Antoine Griezmann, Philippe Coutinho and Sergi Roberto have all been named as players who could depart, with their most likely destination being Juventus, should Ronaldo go the other way.

The transfer ever occurring is a long shot.

Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes is yet to be approached by Barcelona, and there is no guarantee that the Portuguese would join the Catalan club - after all, he'd be burning some big bridges.

But if Barcelona pull off the unthinkable then they will line up with a sensational-looking team next season.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen is of course set to keep his place between the sticks, and he'll have the likes of Jordi Alba, Clement Lenglet, Eric Garcia, Gerard Pique and Sergino Dest in front of him.

In midfield, Frenkie de Jong will keep his place... but this is where things start to get exciting.

Out right, new signing Memphis Depay would line up with the legendary Messi on the opposite flank.

Another new addition in Sergio Aguero would take his place up top with Ronaldo likely operating in a number 10 role - given creative freedom to move both left and right and, of course, get into the box should an opportunity present itself to him.
