We thought it couldn’t get much worse, then the Prime Minister calls a Press Conference during the weekend and Christmas as we know it changes yet again and the reality sinks in that next year really won’t be starting off on the positive note we all so desperately want it to.

If you’re feeling sad, worried and deflated, know that you are not alone, I too feel completely overwhelmed and disheartened with the continued Covid coaster we are all riding and the confusing, conflicting advice, information and rules we are being given.

For many it means that the joy of spending the festive season with loved ones has changed and that is tough, Christmas is all about being with people we care about, celebrating and enjoying each other’s company.

It’s such a frightening time for everybody and quite frankly it is depressing and deflating. You can forgive yourself for losing your mojo and feeling nothing but despair, however, we can’t give up.

There’s a phrase I often use especially throughout the last 9 months and that is “Dig Deep” I can, you can, we can….dig deep and find those little gems that make us smile, that make us breathe a little easier, feel a little more thankful, and that give us hope.

We have been through so much and continue to, so switching off and having some downtime over the next few weeks is vital. I know lots of Mums and Dads who have to work over Christmas and who are desperately trying to factor in some family time as well as time for just them. For our mental health and wellbeing, some quiet time is much needed especially if we are to recharge and reset for January which, let's face it, is going to be just as uncertain and difficult as now.

One thing is for sure, Christmas looks different for all of us this year and we are left with no other option than focusing on making the most of the holiday season as best as we can.

And remember we all share one very big thing in common, no matter what our views are on this current pandemic, and that is we all have love at our core, so let's support each other this Christmas, respect each other and hold onto the notion that nothing is permanent.
