Arsenal handed injury boost ahead of Newcastle clash as trio set to return

Granit Xhaka hopes to be fit to face Newcastle on Monday.

Swiss midfielder Xhaka had to be substituted in his nation’s Euro 2020 qualifier with Denmark on Tuesday night and his national manager Vladimir Petkovic said he asked to be substituted because of an abductor injury.

However, Xhaka will report back to London Colney today hoping to be fit for Arsenal ’s run-in as they chase a place in the top four.

Xhaka took to social media after the Switzerland game and said: “We wanted the win, we didn’t get it but we are still in a strong position. Now back to Arsenal. We have aims we need to reach together.”

Alexandre Lacazette delighted with 'leaked' Arsenal away 2019-20 kit

Aaron Ramsey left the Wales camp because of a thigh problem which saw him sit out his nation’s games but is hoping to be fit for Monday.

Nacho Monreal missed Arsenal’s trip to Dubai when they played a friendly and had a warm weather training camp which saw them also take long term absentees Hector Bellerin and Danny Welbeck to give them a boost.

But Monreal’s calf issue has responded to treatment and he is also expected to play against Newcastle .

Arsenal (probable): Leno; Maitland-Niles, Sokratis, Koscielny, Monreal, Kolasinac; Xhaka, Ramsey, Ozil, Lacazette, Aubameyang
