How are the Jets spending their bye week?

The New York Jets are using their bye week to regroup and get healthy.

Adam Gase said on Monday that the team will not be practicing during its bye week. Instead, the Jets are holding a bunch of team meetings in order to clean up the mistakes that they’ve made in their first three games, all losses.

It’s a smart move by Gase to not be holding practice this week. The team is full of injuries and they can’t afford a single body to go down. Obviously, the Jets can use the practice reps given how poorly they’ve played, but getting healthy is more important right now. There’s a decent shot they’ll get Sam Darnold back for Week 5, while C.J. Mosley, Demaryius Thomas, Quinnen Williams and Jordan Jenkins are trending in the right direction, too.

Gase seems to believe that most of his team’s issues are mental. The Jets have fallen victim to repeated defensive breakdowns and the offensive line has looked lost on the field. There, however, are things that can be corrected by going over some film and coaching up some of the mistakes that were made — at least that’s the hope.

The Jets will be back on the practice field heading into Week 5. If all goes according to plan, they’ll have more able bodies and sharper minds when they get back out there.
