How Andrew Luck used to irk ex-Broncos safety T.J. Ward

Colts quarterback Andrew Luck shocked the NFL world on Saturday evening, announcing his retirement at age 29.

Dozens — perhaps even hundreds — of current and former players reacted to the news on Twitter, including former Broncos safety T.J. Ward. The two-time Pro Bowl tweeted that the QB used to compliment Ward, which irked him.

Ward also reacted to video of Colts fans inexcusably booing Luck when he left the field for the last time in Indianapolis.

Luck won the AFC South twice during his first three years in the NFL, throwing 40 touchdown passes in 2014. The quarterback battled through multiple injuries in more recent seasons, though, and Indianapolis has not won its division in five years.

Luck is walking away from football after throwing for 23,671 yards and 171 touchdowns in six seasons.

Ward, 32, won Super Bowl 50 with the Broncos in 2016 and went on to play two more season in the NFL. The safety totaled 607 tackles, 8.5 sacks and eight interceptions in eight seasons.
