How and when to watch the Vice Presidential election debate

Vice President Mike Pence and Democrat candidate Kamala Harris will face each other for the first time in Wednesday's Vice Presidential TV debate.

There was some question over whether the debate would go ahead, after Donald Trump's coronavirus diagnosis.

But it's now expected the debate will go ahead - with some additional safety measures in place.

Vice President Mike Pence and Joe Biden’s running mate Senator Kamala Harris will debate each other on October 7 in Salt Lake City, moderated by Susan Page, USA Today Washington Bureau chief, from 2am UK time.

The candidates will have two minutes to answer nine questions posed by the moderator.

Pence and Harris will be seated more than 12 feet (3.7 m) apart on the stage, farther than the 7 feet (2 m) originally agreed on.

And there are arguments ongoing about whether there should be plexiglass screens between the two candidates.

At this point, the Pence camp is reportedly pushing back against the idea of having an extra screen on their side.

The debate will be broadcast live on all major news channels, including BBC News and Sky News, and on CNN which is available on Sky TV in the UK.
