Alexis Sanchez made his Inter Milan debut - here's how he fared

Alexis Sanchez made his Inter Milan debut on Saturday night coming on as a 79th minute substitute - and nearly found the back of the net.

The Chilean was denied a San Siro goal against Udinese after keeper Juan Musso pulled off a fine save.

Antonio Conte's side, however, maintained their 100 per cent start to the Serie A season with a 1-0 victory over Sanchez's former club.

Inter's winning goal, netted by Stefano Sensi, was not scored while Sanchez was on the pitch but he did come close to getting on the scoresheet in the closing stages of the match.

Sanchez's first contribution of note came when his free-kick into the box, which looked certain to be met by Diego Godin, was headed clear.

Moments later came Sanchez's chance to shine as Antonio Candreva's low cross into the box somehow found its way to the 30-year-old at the back post, only for the his effort from point-blank range to be clawed away by Musso.

The Manchester United loanee had another chance when Candreva whipped in a tempting cross but on that occasion he was unable to make contact with the ball at the near post.

Romelu Lukaku started for Inter but disappointed and was withdrawn shortly after the hour mark, with Lautaro Martinez coming on in the Belgian's place.

Sanchez could make his European debut for Inter this week, with Slavia Prague the visitors to Milan on Tuesday night.
