How a teenage Andy Robertson astonishingly predicted his future role in Liverpool's first team

An interview with Liverpool's Andy Robertson from 2013 has emerged online and reveals how the full-back made a spooky prediction about his future.

'The Next Big Thing' was the title of the Q&A with the then 19-year-old who was playing for Scottish fourth-tier side Queen's Park.

When asked about his strengths the then youngster eerily predicted his role in Liverpool's team, he described: "My passing and I'm good at supporting my winger from deep.

"In the modern game it's good for full-backs to be forward-thinking."

Robertson has been exactly that for Jurgen Klopp's side since his £8m move from Hull City in 2017, and is now rated as one of the best left-backs in world football.

The Glaswegian defender has assisted nine Premier League goals for the Reds this season.

His latest included a sumptuous cross he delivered into Roberto Firmino on Sunday as the Brazilian headed Liverpool into the lead over Tottenham.

The interview was posted to Reddit and is dated from 27 April, 2013 - long before the now Scottish skipper had even been called up for the Scotland U21 side.

Robertson was also asked about what superpower he would wield and produced a comical answer.

The 25-year-old said: "I wish I could go back in time to alter the course of history. At least then I'd have a bit more luck with my coupons! They'd always come in without fail if I had my way."

The final question was the most poignant, after a prompt which read: "In five years I'll be"

Robertson responded: "It's simple really. I hope to be a professional footballer at as high a level as possible - playing week in, week out."

His five-year plan certainly paid off having signed a new five-year deal with Liverpool in January.

Not only is Robertson playing at 'a high level' and no longer driving a Renault Clio, most importantly he is a firm favourite among fans and one of the first names on Klopp's team-sheet.

The reliable Scotsman has missed just three Premier League games and featured in every Champions League clash - but will miss out on the quarter-final first leg with Porto through suspension.

The rise of Robertson has been remarkable, from being released by his boyhood club Celtic due to his height, to being placed first in the Premier League and locked in a fierce title race with Manchester City.

As Liverpool go in pursuit of their first league title since 1990 the Scottish stopper is a driving force from the left side of defence.
