How a former Bolton Wanderers striker helped decide the Euro 2020 team of the tournament

UEFA has confirmed the Euro 2020 team of the tournament with plenty of representation from England in the side which was deemed to be the best over the past month.

Manchester United's Harry Maguire and Manchester City duo Kyle Walker and Raheem Sterling make the side, which lines up in a 4-3-3 formation.

Italy's Gianluigi Donnarumma was selected as goalkeeper, despite England's Jordan Pickford winning the tournament's golden glove.

Alongside Walker and Maguire, Italy duo Leonardo Bonucci and Leomardo Spinazzola make the back four.

A central midfield trio of Chelsea and Italy midfielder Jorginho, Spurs and Denmark star Pierre Emile Hojbjerg, and Spain's Pedri form the heart of the engine room.

And alongside Sterling in the front three are Italy's Federico Chiesa and Belgium's former United striker Romelu Lukaku.

A former Bolton Wanderers striker in the form of Mixu Paatelainen helped decide the team of the tournament.

The former Finland international and current Hong Kong boss was one of 16 former players and current or ex-players which made up UEFA's technical observer team, who selected the team.

The list also includes current West Ham United boss and former United manager David Moyes, ex-Spurs and Liverpool striker Robbie Keane, and former Argentina and Leicester City midfielder Esteban Cambiasso.

Paatelainen played 80 times for Wanderers across three seasons both in the old First Division and in the Premier League, scoring 17 goals.
