How a broken bed frame, high winds and an outdoor lamp captured the attention of thousands across Leeds

When Emily Beattie noticed that a bed frame had become attached to the outside of her home, she couldn't quite believe what she had seen.

The 25-year-old Tesco employee took a picture and posted it on Facebook - but she was not expecting the avalanche of responses that piled in.

Her pictures of the broken bed frame hanging off a light outside the building on Pennington Place, Woodhouse, saw people all over the city become captivated.

Emily posted in leedsplace on Friday night and said: "To whoever dumped their old bedframe by TJ's in Hyde Park choose a less windy day next time so it doesn't get stuck to the side of my house pls xoxoxo."

Emily Beattie's initial post about the bed frame blew up when she put it into leedsplace (Facebook: leedsplace)

Within hours, it had gathered hundreds of reactions and shares from people all over the city.

"I never though a bit of junk would make the news," Emily told LeedsLive.

"I first saw it on Friday evening. I was just like: 'Hang on, what's that on the side of the wall?'.

"I had no clue it was there and had impaled itself on the side of the wall.

"I put the pictures up and I thought it would get a bit of a reaction, but I definitely wasn't expecting it to be this big. I came back to about 100 notifications on Facebook."

A little later that same evening, things took another twist when Emily noticed the bed frame had become illuminated by the light.

Emily Beattie posted this update a few hours after the initial post about the bed frame (Facebook: leedsplace)

"I went out later thinking: 'It can't get any funnier' - but it had!" she said.

In a post a few hours later, she updated the thousands of people who had become captivated by the hilarious events.

"Slight update on my previous post: it makes for some fantastic mood lighting," she said.

"Who needs Blackpool illuminations when you have Hyde Park illuminations?"

48 hours on from the initial post, people are still eager for updates. Emily has confirmed that the bed frame - which has been compared to a piece of Banksy artwork - is still in place and is likely to remain there until the landlord removes it.

For the time being, the bank holiday bed frame saga continues...
