How a £160,000 watch, a secret island hideaway and diamond jewellery seized from crooks could be yours for a snip of the price

A £160,000 watch seized from a drug trafficker, luxury diamond jewellery and a slice of Canadian real estate are all up for grabs at a fraction of their usual price.

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore watch would normally set you back roughly the same amount as a small house.

But the 18ct pink gold watch, which boasts a hand-stitched crocodile leather strap and diamond pave bezel, was seized by West Yorkshire Police from a drug trafficker who is currently serving a five year sentence for his role in cannabis farms.

So now the lavish timepiece will be sold to the highest bidder, alongside other ill-gotten gains seized by the authorities from criminals, at an Unreserved Government Auction later this month.

The sale, hosted by Wilsons Auctions, will also feature Rolex, Breitling, Cartier and Tag Heuer watches, including a highly sought-after Rolex ‘Hulk’ Submariner valued at almost £10,000, all of which were seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

There will also be designer goods from Louis Vuitton, Canada Goose, Balenciaga, Christian Louboutin and Guiseppe Zanotti as well as approximately 30 lots of gold, diamond, sapphire and ruby jewellery.

There is no reserve price on the items, so they will all go to the highest bidder at the fall of the gavel, whatever they raise.

The auction will also include a Government Property Auction of homes and land, including a vacant plot in Newfoundland, Canada.

Although subject to planning permission, it is described as 'an excellent site to build a dream home' and has a guide price of £50,000, but no reserve.

The only lot with a reserve is a two storey mews house with a roof terrace, on what is described as the 'secret' Croatian island Orebic, which is guided at £90,000.

The auction takes place on Thursday, October 31 at 6pm at Wilsons Auctions in Belfast - but it is open to both physical and online bidders.

Wilsons Auctions’ government sales coordinator, Michael Streight said: "Our upcoming Unreserved Government Auction is set to be a real head-turner for watch enthusiasts.

"Not only do we have a selection of some of the biggest watch brands in the world but we have a unique £160,000 Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore watch as well as a Rolex ‘Hulk’ Submariner and not to mention some stunning gold and diamond jewellery as well as the ever popular designer goods.

"With all items going under the hammer with no reserve, this is a great opportunity to purchase quality goods for an affordable price as all items will be sold to the highest bidder at the fall of the gavel, with reserve requirements on the land and property only.

"Wilsons Auctions is proud of the role it takes in realising these seized assets, having been responsible in returning over £100 million back into the public purse, ultimately going back to the victims of crimes or into local community initiatives."
