Houthi militias have continued their escalation on various fronts deploying all kinds of weapons, including drones, artillery, and snipers, while Yemeni army leaders confirmed their commitment to the UN humanitarian truce in its second month, according to field reports.

Militia violations have exceeded 3,000 since the truce took effect on April 2, field sources told Asharq Al-Awsat, adding that the Houthis intensified combat preparations and deployed more heavy military vehicles to battlefronts.

In the latest report by the Yemeni army, insurgents continued to violate the truce on various fighting fronts, taking advantage of the army and resistance forces’ adherence to it.

The militias committed 126 violations of the truce last Thursday and Friday, said the report.

According to the account, Houthi violations varied between attempts to infiltrate military sites of the army forces, and targeting sites on all fronts with artillery, bullets, and explosive drones.

The report added that militias continued to establish military sites, deploy snipers, cannons, and bullets, and build ancillary roads.

Moreover, the group sent heavy reinforcements, including BMP vehicles and personnel, to various fronts.

Most mobilization took place in the Taiz and Hodeidah governorates.

In other news, the Yemeni Armed Forces on Sunday announced that its air defenses had shot down an armed drone that was launched by the Houthis over the northern Yemeni province of Saada.

Commander of the 3rd “Asefah” Brigade Major General Muhammad al-Ajabi said that the Houthi drone was detected by reconnaissance units while it was flying over military positions on the mountains of Kalh al-Kirs and al-Madafn in the district of Dhaher. After being detected the drone was quickly shot down by air defense units.

“These breaches constitute a flagrant violation of the UN ceasefire,” al-Ajabi said, according to the Saba News Agency.
