The Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen has said that “an enemy projectile fell on Abha International Airport” on Wednesday evening.
Colonel Turki Al-Malki, the Coalition’s official spokesman, said there were no casualties in the attack.
“The incident is being pursued by the competent authorities,” he added in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency.
Maliki accused the Houthi militias of “targeting civilians protected under international humanitarian law and its customary rules, by declaring through their media their full responsibility for this terrorist act using a Cruise missile, which constitutes a clear admission and full responsibility for targeting civilian assets.”
Earlier, he stated that Coalition forces managed to intercept and shoot down in Yemen's airspace a drone launched by the Houthis from Sanaa towards the Kingdom.
He reiterated that all attempts by the Iranian-backed militias to launch drones are doomed to fail, saying the Coalition takes all operational procedures and best practices of engagement rules to deal with the drones in an effort to protect civilians.
